business chamber in Singapore and to advance and promote business
networking and co-operation amongst business communities in
Singapore and abroad.

The (SICC) is the oldest
Chamber of Commerce in Asia and the oldest commercial organisation
in Singapore and today counts among its members business enterprises
operated by over 40 nationalities.

The

originally known as the "General Chinese Trade Affairs Association",
was officially established in 1906 to look after the interests
of the businesses and the welfare of the local Chinese community.
The Association's name was changed to "Singapore Chinese Chamber
of Commerce" in 1921. In 1977, the SCCCI was renamed "Singapore
Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry".

The was formed by a group of Malay businessmen who pooled themselves
together to establish a strong bond between themselves in order
to provide information, to assist and cooperate and to create
confidence among themselves. It was later decided to get as
many Malay businessmen in this group and thus the formation
of the Chamber.

The history of
began in 1924 when "The Indian Merchants Association" was founded
with 30 members. In 1935, it became "The Indian Chamber of Commerce"
and today the Chamber has over 500 members and is one of the
five founding members of the Singapore Federation of Chambers
of Commerce and Industry (SFCCI).
